Soul of the Green Coast

Sao Paulo - Rio de Janeiro

From skyscrapers to jungle stories: A private journey to Brazil's true heart.

Most travelers know Brazil only from postcards.

They see the sparkle of Copacabana and the buzz of big cities, but miss the most precious part – its true soul hidden in the Atlantic rainforest.

At MAMA IN BRAZIL, we believe in the privilege of peace, authentic experiences, and the luxury of privacy beyond mass tourism.

Our adventurous journey from São Paulo to Rio de Janeiro is more than just travel between two metropolises. It's a deep dive into a world locked away from typical tourists.

What to expect?

Dramatic contrast

Experience the raw energy of São Paulo's skyscrapers, then just hours later, find yourself by a sacred fire in a hidden quilombo where time flows with nature's rhythm.

Access to exclusive worlds

Thanks to our personal connections with local communities, you'll be welcomed where others remain outside the gates. Visit indigenous enclaves, historic farms, and authentic favelas—not as observers, but as invited friends.

The art of detail

For us, luxury means you don't have to worry about a thing. Every stop, every meal with a local fisherman, and every transfer is designed to make you feel safe, comfortable, and cared for by your personal "Mama."

This trip is for you if

  • you want more than to just "see Brazil" — you want to truly experience it

  • you prefer not to deal with logistics, safety, or language barriers

  • you are traveling as a couple, family, or small group

  • you seek a blend of comfort and authenticity with a local guide

FAQ

What exactly is the "Soul of the Green Coast" journey?

It's an exclusive corridor between São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro known as the Litoral Norte. Our route passes through the Atlantic Forest, visiting places rich in history: historic fazendas (farms), quilombos (communities of descendants of freed Africans), and indigenous lands.

How is the logistics arranged?

Your trip begins with a private transfer directly from the São Paulo airport (GRU/CGH) or your hotel. Throughout, you'll travel in comfortable, air-conditioned vehicles with a professional guide. The journey can also start in Rio.

What does "private journey" mean?

It means you're not part of a mass tour. You travel in an intimate setting with personalized attention. Just you, your family, and friends. We build bridges to local people and cultures that reveal Brazil's true face.

When is the best time for this trip?

Brazil is beautiful year-round. If you want to see whales, the ideal months are May through August. For those seeking peace and empty beaches, we recommend March, April, May, or November and December.

Can I choose my own dates?

Yes. We specialize in custom itineraries. The start date of your trip will be tailored to your international flights and personal preferences.

What kind of weather can I expect?

The coast is tropical and green all year.

  • Summer (December – March): Warm and lively, perfect for beaches and swimming.

  • Winter (June – September): Pleasant temperatures around 25°C and peak whale watching season in Ilhabela.

How challenging are the routes?

Our experiences are designed to be comfortable. Most involve walking through communities or historic town centers like Paraty. But if you want more demanding trekking to hidden jungle waterfalls, we can include it.

What should I pack?

We recommend lightweight, breathable clothing, comfortable walking shoes, swimwear, and good insect repellent (essential for jungle visits). Don't forget an open mind for new cultural experiences.

I have only 2 days in São Paulo—can I still experience something?

Absolutely. We can arrange an intense 48-hour experience including a favela visit in São Paulo and a jungle trip nearby.

Is this trip suitable for children?

Definitely. Children are warmly welcomed by indigenous tribes and quilombo communities. It's the best live school of history and biodiversity for them.

Do you arrange flights as well?

We specialize in ground logistics and unique experiences within Brazil. We don't sell flights, but we're happy to advise on the best connections for your itinerary.

What payment options do you offer?

We accept card payments, international bank transfers, or cash.

Are bike tours available on this route?

We love biking and are preparing cycling tours for this route. Please ask us about the options.

It was a great time. I had never been whale watching before and didn't realize the whales would leap out of the water so much! It was fantastic! Ivanna organized the whole trip and made it really fun. Thanks, Ivanna! :)
